WeChat for PC: 3 Steps to Permanently Delete Your Account

WeChat has become the type of service that most people want, especially since it provides a wide range of features and possibilities. This is, in fact, what makes WeChat special, compared to other similar services on the market.

However, using multiple accounts on multiple devices might be exhausting. Unfortunately, WeChat application does not allow users to delete or remove their accounts directly from a single button. In order to delete your account, you need to follow a three-step process presented bellow, and your account will be long gone. Before you proceed with the tutorial make sure you have all the requirements for installing Wechat for Pc.

Step 1: Clear Chat History and Remove Linked Accounts

The first thing you need to do is to clear all history of your WeChat account. For this, login to your account, head over to Settings and then click on Clear Chat History. This will clear all of your conversations, chat room history, as well as all shared items between you and your contacts.

If you are using Whatsapp on your iPad instead of Wechat you can skip this step.

Step 2: Revoke Third-Party Services

Note: This is not required with the Pc version of whatsapp.

After you have cleared your WeChat applications’ chat history, simply unlink the accounts that are linked to your WeChat accounts. In this category, you can find your Google account, Facebook, Twitter and others. Make sure that you have not removed your email address from the linked account because you will need it later.

Step 3. Send Account Cancellation Email to WeChat

As I mentioned above, there is no direct button to delete your WeChat account. In this case, things need to be done manually. After clearing all your chat history and removing all linked accounts, it is time to delete the WeChat account once and for all. In order to do this, you need to contact them about the account cancelation. After confirming the email, they will delete your account. To contact them, just visit the contact us page. However, keep on mind that this might take a while, up to two weeks to be precise, but, afterward, your account will be permanently deleted.( While this is true for wechat this will not work for Kik on your PC )

After requesting them about the account deletion or after you receive the cancelation reply from WeChat, you also need to uninstall the WeChat application from your smartphone or your computer and now you can say that your account was permanently deleted. It might seem pretty complicated compared to the effect of a single “Delete account” button, but if you want to get rid of your WeChat account, you need to follow all three steps.
